Naloxone Training

In recognition of International Overdose Awareness Day (on Aug 31st), we are collaborating with the Purpose Society, The New West Farmers Market has invited The Purpose Society to host Naloxone Training at the market on Thursday, September 3rd from 3-5 PM.

Naloxone is a life-saving harm reduction tool that can help reserve the effects of an active opioid overdose.

LIVE CANNING AND PRESERVATION DEMO
September 10TH  –  Tipperary Park  – 3-7 PM

Terra Roots Community Association will be teach customers how to can and preserve their food – live at the market! Stop by their booth anytime between 3 – 7 PM on September 10th and acquire the vast, secret knowledge of the canning trade to become an unstoppable force against all bacteria that would dare soil your food!

Ask a Gardener
September 17TH  –  Tipperary Park  – 3-7 PM

The New West Horticultural Society will be joining the NWFM on September 17th to host a workshop answering your burning questions about what you can do with your garden during the Fall season and how you can prepare it for winter! Come prepared with your questions, learn from their eternal wisdom – and come early as they will be giving away 50 FREE garlic bulbs for the first 50 visitors!

Medicine Wheel Workshop
September 24TH  –  Tipperary Park  – 5-6:30 PM
 

Join us on September 24th from 5:00pm to 6:30pm in Tipperary Park for a Medicine Wheel Workshop with @2metiswomen !

Learn the core concepts of the medicine wheel and traditional indigenous teachings while making your own wheel to take home!

Indigenous Peoples have used the Medicine Wheel as a life guide since time immemorial. This September 24th at the New West Farmers Market, ahead of Truth and Reconciliation Day, Lorelei, an Indigenous educator with 2MetisWomen and knowledge carrier for the North Fraser Métis Association will guide participants through the creation of their own Medicine Wheel to take home, while learning some traditional Indigenous teachings through the core concepts of this important life guide.

The wheel is often used as a tool for learning, contemplating, and understanding one’s personal journey towards holistic wellbeing and balancing the Physical, Mental, Social, Spiritual self. Lorelei will lead you examining each quadrant, where the strengths are and where some goal setting could be implemented.
