Apply to perform at our 2025 season!

Starting January 20th, 2025, we are accepting applications for live musicians for our 2025 season! You can apply using the form below.

This opportunity will remain open until all available dates are filled, with musicians being accepted on a rolling basis. Priority is given to returning performers. New musicians must submit a sample performance video (either using a link or video file) that will be used when evaluating applications.

If you’d like to apply, please read through the following guidelines for our musicians:

  • Our market is on Thursdays from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm from March 27th – October 30th, 2025, and is located next to New Westminster City Hall in the Tipperary Park parking lot. We hire one musician for each market date, with the possibility of up to 2 dates per musician in a season.
  • Our markets are hosted outdoors. We take measures to help our musicians feel comfortable no matter the weather – providing them with a tent to provide shelter from the elements, 1-2 chairs, and in the case of cold weather, a propane heater. Performers must be able to commit to performing rain or shine.
  • Performers who were booked and attended a performance date during 2024 are considered returning musicians, and get priority over performance opportunities. All other applicants are considered new musicians – even those who have performed with us in years prior to 2024.
  • Musicians are expected to perform for the full length of the market (4 hours). We do understand that this is a very long period to be performing and we expect you to take regular breaks.
  • Musical acts are paid an honorarium at a rate of $50 per hour, with payments completed via e-transfer following the completion of the performance. We welcome busking and selling CDs at the market.
  • Performers must provide their own battery-operated amp/pa system as we do not have power available for our musicians. Battery operated amps can be rented for relatively inexpensive day rates – we recommend Long and McQuade (you can see their rental rates here)
  • In alignment with our organizational values, we will be prioritizing applications from BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and other historically marginalized groups. We recognize the importance of diversity in our markets, and to the community of New Westminster as a whole and aim to hire musicians that reflect that diversity.
  • Should any performer encounter financial barriers to equipment rentals or performance, please contact our team and we’d be happy to work together towards a solution.

Thank you for your interest in performing at our market! If you have any questions about performing, please contact our team here.

2025 Season Performer Application

  • Performers are paid via e-transfer shortly after their market date. Ideally, this email address will have auto deposit set up! If you're unable to receive payments via e-transfer, please contact assistant@newwestfarmers.ca so we can find a solution.
  • Tell us about what sets you apart!
  • If you are a new performer at NWFM, it is MANDATORY to submit an audition tape. This video does not need fancy or at a venue - it could even be you performing a song in your bedroom! We're just looking to see your talents as a musician. New applicants without a sample will not be considered. If you'd like to upload a file instead of a link, please scroll to the next question.

  • Disclosure is optional, but if you do not provide us with your username(s), your account(s) will not be tagged in promotional materials for your performances. If you have multiple different usernames across platforms, please specify which username is used where. Ex - @newwestfarmers (Instagram), @NewWestFarmersMarket (Facebook).
Your PA/speaker system needs to be battery powered - we prefer not powered by a generator as they are frequently loud and disruptive. We do not have electricity to offer at this location. If you have concerns about this, please send us an at email at assistant@newwestfarmers.ca and we can support you figuring out a solution!
Musicians start set up at approximately 2:45 pm due to vendor traffic, and often cannot bring their vehicles into the venue. Street parking is available near Tipperary park, and volunteers can assist you in bringing your equipment into the venue. Please keep an eye on your inbox, as these guidelines are subject to changes throughout the season. If you have any concerns about this or need an exemption to these guidelines, please contact us at assistant@newwestfarmers.ca so we can best support you!
While we encourage our musicians to express their creativity and signature style, our farmers market often is frequented by children and families. We at NWFM also strive towards creating an inclusive environment, welcoming customers from a diverse range of backgrounds. Performers are asked not to include songs or other performance materials that could be considered inappropriate, offensive, or insensitive. When in doubt, ask yourself - "would I feel comfortable performing this in front of my grandmother?"
In alignment with our organizational values, we will be prioritizing applications from individuals who come from a historically marginalized groups. We recognize the importance of diversity within our market, and our community, and want to foster an environment that is conducive to these values. Disclosure is voluntary and will not be externally shared.
If applicable, to ensure variety, priority for last minute cancellations slots will be given to performers who have booked fewer dates at NWFM within this season.
