*updated DECEMBER 3, 2020*

Join us for our Two Day Weekend Market. The first of its kind for us!

December 12th and 13th from 10-4 both days outdoors in front of New West City Hall. Snow, rain, or shine!

As this COVID-19 situation continues to change, we are committed to changing with it. Since the latest provincial directives have been launched we have made our market a little smaller, the Arts Council will no longer be joining us, and we refocusing on what we do best – food (we are no longer allowed to have any artisans but a list will launch soon so you can shop from them online).

As an essential service the New West Farmers Market is open safely and outdoors, to facilitate stocking up on your holiday meal essentials and getting what you need from our small local business vendors. Please consider joining us December 12 and 13th from 10-4 safely outdoors in front of New West City Hall. We have over 50 vendors, free parking, and entrance is by donation. Remember to wear your mask! We will see you at the market!

Adjustments to our 2020 Season

September 20, 2020 By Lily Nichol

We’ve made a lot of changes this season to ensure that our shoppers, vendors, staff and volunteers are kept safe during COVID-19 while also making sure that fresh, local food continued to be available to our community. To this end we have extended our “Summer Season” to run until November 12th, 2020. It will continue every Thursday in Tipperary Park from 3-7pm (with 3:00-3:30 continuing as priority entrance for those with small children, the disabled, the immunocompromised and seniors).

Normally we would have a Winter Market on Belmont Street that would begin in November but due to several factors, including finances and safety concerns, we have cancelled our Winter Market on Belmont Street this year. We will reopen in Tipperary Park a month earlier next year, in April, to help bridge the gap.

Thank you for your support and shopping local!

We Need Your Help!

June 22, 2020 By Lily Nichol

The New West Farmers Market is proud to be able to continue to provide the community with fresh, local food during a scary time for us all. We have worked extremely hard with the City of New West, Fraser Health, the BC Association of Farmers Markets, and the BCCDC to ensure that our market can continue to serve our vendors, you and your families during the COVID-19 pandemic. Thank you for your continued support, we couldn’t do this without you!

During this time we have made a lot of changes regarding how we operate to ensure we are able to continue to be here every week for New West. These changes have severely impacted our operating budget. We are working hard to find alternative sources of funding as our income has taken a detrimental hit and our expenses have skyrocketed to ensure we are able to safely run the farmers market. However, at the end of the day, we are not able to financially recover from this on our own and we need your help.

Please consider donating to the New West Farmers Market so that we are able to continue to support small local businesses, low income families and seniors through the Nutrition Coupon Program and bring our amazing market to our community every Thursday from 3-7pm. Every dollar you donate helps keep the market afloat. We couldn’t do this without you. You can donate online here or in person on Thursdays. Thank you!

Our market is grateful to operate on the unceded land of the Qayqayt, Kwikwetlem, and other Halkomelem speaking Peoples. We acknowledge that colonialism has made invisible their histories and connections to the land. We acknowledge the incredible gift this land is to our market and BC Agriculture. We commit to the ongoing work of decolonization and allyship.
