Annual General Meeting – 2020 in Review

Please consider this official notice of the New West Farmers Market 2020 AGM:

Monday, February 8th, 7:00pm
Held via Google Meet

Please click here to receive the meeting link!

The New West Farmers Market Annual General Meeting will be held on Monday, February 8th at 7:00pm via Google Meet. The meeting agenda will be primarily comprised of an update on this year’s activities, successes and challenges in 2020 and our financial performance in 2020.

What to expect at our AGM this year:

Reports on Our 2020 Year:
You will hear reports from three people: Lily, our Market Manager on the challenges and success of our Covid-19 season; Shannon, our outgoing Treasurer, on the state of our financials from  2020; and from Matt, our President, on our plans moving the market forward.

Elect or Acclaim a Revised Board:
Some of the most basic business of an AGM is to elect a new board. We are losing two of our directors this year and have four vacancies to fill for 2021. The New West Farmers Market Board can accept up to seven elected board members.

Normally after the business end of the AGM we have treats and socializing, but this will have to wait until next year’s AGM.

We hope you can join us on February 8th.

(filled) Join our Board!

January 20, 2021 By Lily Nichol

Do you love New Westminster? Do you love supporting local food and businesses?

Our AGM is coming up in February and we are looking to fill four seats on our amazing board for our 2021 season!

We are a fun and lighthearted team, with a small but hands on board and a young, hardworking staff. We meet monthly (on google hangouts right now, but in normal times, we meet up for tea and cookies IRL) for a couple hours, and beyond that we ask that board members be available to do a bit of prep work for our meetings (amount varies by role), and we ask for additional volunteer time of 4ish hours per month (varies based on what projects are at hand).

We are specifically seeking a treasurer and a secretary to join our team (no previous experience is required)!

You don’t have to have any background of volunteering on a board, or volunteering with the market. We simply are looking for people who are passionate about what we do, and have the time to put their passion to work helping us making the market bigger, better, and more amazing this year! Have questions or want to throw your hat into the ring? Contact board@newwestfarmers.ca by February 5th at the latest.

Join us for our Two Day Weekend Market. The first of its kind for us!

December 12th and 13th from 10-4 both days outdoors in front of New West City Hall. Snow, rain, or shine!

As this COVID-19 situation continues to change, we are committed to changing with it. Since the latest provincial directives have been launched we have made our market a little smaller, the Arts Council will no longer be joining us, and we refocusing on what we do best – food (we are no longer allowed to have any artisans but a list will launch soon so you can shop from them online).

As an essential service the New West Farmers Market is open safely and outdoors, to facilitate stocking up on your holiday meal essentials and getting what you need from our small local business vendors. Please consider joining us December 12 and 13th from 10-4 safely outdoors in front of New West City Hall. We have over 50 vendors, free parking, and entrance is by donation.
