We’ve just released the winter market vendor lineup. You can find out all about it here, as well as the kids’ activities and music we have planned for our first ever winter market. See you Saturday!
Winter Market Planning
I’ve been really busy putting together the winter market and am so excited at how nicely everything has been coming together. I’ve been asked a few times lately for an update so I thought I should take a few minutes to share our progress.
The Holiday Market on December 12 has 26 confirmed vendors (I’ll be posting a list soon with links) and a few more in the works. That more or less sells us out for space and we are thrilled at the response we have gotten from vendors. We are also excited to have booked Benjamin Keith for our first winter market and look forward to him playing – we have word that Ben is going to learn a few holiday tunes to help get us all a little more festive!
We also recently got word that the City of New Westminster has generously agreed to let us offer the Waterfront Parkade free to market shoppers at 4 out of the 5 markets. The fifth one is during the Olympics and the Parkade is already committed to that – although it’s available to park at in February, it won’t be free as in all the other markets) We really want to thank the City of New Westminster for continuing to support the Farmers Market. Although the market is situated within walking distance from both Columbia and New Westminster Skytrain stations, and we encourage market goers to take advantage of the central location, we really appreciate being able to offer free parking to those market goers who elect to drive.
Also present at the market will be the Community Garden Initiative group run by New Westminster Environmental Partners – if you have any questions about the community garden plans in the works, NWEP will be there to answer questions.
What would make a better gift that an basket full of locally made goods?
See you at the first Holiday Market!
Calling New Vendors!
Plans for the winter market are chugging along and we are delighted at the number of summer vendors signing on for the untested waters of the winter market. Surveys show that customers want to see some new stuff- some requests include handmade clothing, ceramics, cleaning supplies, and accessories for the home – so we’re currently searching for a few new vendors to add to the mix. Vendors still need to make, bake, or grow what they sell, and we’re still going to be selective to ensure a good mix of items, but if you’re a new possible vendor with something to sell, please send an email to marketmanager@newwestfarmers.ca and we can talk about whether the Winter Farmers Market is the right place for you.
September photo contest
The winner of our September photo contest is Britt Baker, who shared this photo and more from her trip to the Royal City Farmers Market
on her blog, Days of Whine and Wieners.

Once again, we want to thank everyone for entering our little contest. For her winning picture, Britt receives a RCFM t shirt and is entered to win a limited edition market tote bag full of $50 worth of market goodies.
